This term KS2 have been learning how to make chicken burgers. This is the first time we have used meat in cooking, so the children have learnt the importance of storing cooked and raw meat, how cross contamination can make us ill and how easily bacteria from raw meat can spread if we don’t handle the meat properly and to always wash our hands properly after  handling the meat.

Farfield Rhubarb Harvest

We are very lucky to have been given a large number of rhubarb plants from a local farmer a couple of years ago which means that summer term one’s cooking curriculum is heavily rhubarb based!  This year we are cooking rhubarb crumble despite staff complaints that there is no return of last year’s vanilla rhubarb crumb cake and I think the rhubarb may be even bigger this year. Lots of rhubarb will also be taken on Y5 residential.

Reading a recipe, measuring, chopping, sieving, kneading – so many skills in action with 3D group 3 today.  They made fantastic cheesy bread buns!
