How to Peel Safely

January 5, 2015 at 9:54 pm

In lower KS2 the children use ‘y peelers’ so they can safely peel away from their bodies.  Once they reach years 5 & 6 they may choose to use a ‘Lancashire’ peeler if they feel confident..  This video shows how to use both types of peeler plus a bonus tip on peeling ginger you may find surprising!

I learnt this ginger peeling trick on a training day with Focus on Food last year.  Who knew?!

Rhubarb vanilla and soured cream crumb cake recipe

Using the wonderful rhubarb from Farfield Farm, this recipe more than any others threatened to increase my waistline beyond what was acceptable!  Cake on the bottom, rhubarb in the middle and vanilla cookie dough on top made for a moist and delicious treat.
